Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities found he posed a definite escape threat while under domestic detention.

The former head of state was found guilty of plotting a government overthrow in last fall and handed more than 27 years in incarceration, but he was staying under house arrest pending appeals.

High Court Judge the presiding justice said the action to imprison the elderly politician was a precautionary step after "new facts" came to light.

This encompassed attempting to break his electronic bracelet and a call for a public vigil that could facilitate a possible escape.

In a paperwork permitting the arrest, the magistrate said data from the centre monitoring the former president's confinement suggested the former leader's aim to disable the tracking monitor to guarantee victory in his flight.

His offspring, his son Flávio, who serves as a senator, called for a meeting of his backers near his father's house to take place on Saturday night.

Flávio Bolsonaro wrote on online platforms on Friday: "Are you going to fight for your nation, or see it all from your smartphone there on your sofa? I urge you to battle with us."

He said the demonstration would be so followers could offer prayers for his physical condition and for the reestablishment of democratic governance in our country."

Details of Guilty Verdict

Bolsonaro was determined responsible of leading a scheme aimed at maintaining his control after he failed to win the national vote to his left-wing rival, Lula.
